1) How do I Register?

Contact the OLET Academy to arrange registration. You will be asked to complete a registration form and submit your complete course fee prior to enrolment.

2) How long is the Program?

As there are a variety of courses offered, the length of the programs will vary.

3) How much is the Program?

As there are several programs available, you will need to contact the OLET Academy for the cost of your specific program of interest.

4) Will my certifications be recognized in the community?

All security training meets the requirements as set by The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. Some of the programs will include first aid and CPR training. Upon successful completion of the exam, each student will receive certification by St. John Ambulance, in Emergency First Aid and CPR level A. St. John certification is recognized around the world.

As an added assurance, we have created an Advisory Board of professionals in the industry. Our curriculum is reviewed regularly, to ensure it is complete, accurate, and informative.

5) What happens if I fail the exam?

Many of the programs have a practical and a written portion. Should either portion not be completed successfully, you will need to make arrangements with the office, to come in for re-examination. The re-write must be within 5 business days of the original exam date. But should be no sooner than 24 hours later. There will be an administrative fee, for this re-write.

6) How do I become a Security Guard?

Everyone working in the security industry requires a license, for their field of choice. You must be a minimum of 18 years of age, have no criminal background, and file the appropriate application. For some, the application process can be overwhelming. OLET offers a Security License program, for anyone that would like assistance.

7) Is Job Assistance available, when I complete my program?

There is a Job Assistance program available, for anyone that is interested. However, OLET is not an employment agency, nor can we guarantee work.

8) What do I receive from the OLET Academy when I complete my training?

OLET will provide you with course material and a handbook, and a certificate for all courses completed.

9) How will the Bill 159 affect the training? 

With the upcoming changes, security guards in the industry, will require more formalized training. At OLET, we have created our curriculum with that in mind. All of our programs meet the curriculum, as set by the ministry, that will be implemented with the new requirements.
