Outline
As of April 15, 2010, the new basic Training and Testing Regulation takes effect. This Regulation helps strengthen the professional requirements for security guards and private investigators and enhance public safety.
OLET offers the PSIS Basic Security Guard and PSIS Private Investigator Courses that are approved by the Ministry to get you certified!
Training
All new applicants that want to become a Security Guard or Private Investigator must complete a basic training program and pass a test of their knowledge before they can apply for a license. Existing licensees do not need to take the basic training course before attempting the ministry test. Beginning July 16, 2010, existing licensees are required to pass the ministry test before applying for their licence renewal.
Testing
Once training is complete and you have satisfied your registered Instructor, individuals seeking licences to work as security guards and/or private investigators must first pass the ministry test. Testing services are provided by Serco DES Inc. For further information about testing and how to register please visit Serco’s website at www.ontariosecuritytesting.ca
